"Als Je Mij Verlaat" is a short film accompanied by an installation, which I created during the Time Based Media minor at HKU.
The film explores a close friendship between two girls, so intense that it leads to separation anxiety. As a result, the main character begins to experience nightmares.
For this project, I took on the roles of director, cinematographer, and editor.
I designed an installation in which the audience watches the film from within the protagonist’s bedroom. The lighting in the room shifts in color to reflect the emotional tone of the film, enhancing the immersive experience and allowing the space to emotionally connect with the story and its main character.
To realize this installation, I used the black box theater at HKU and worked with Isadora to synchronize the lighting with the film's timing. The film was projected onto a wall, and the audience experienced it while lying on the protagonist's bed.
